This album contains experimental pieces, built around improvisational forms. The idea was to follow the ear, so to speak. By starting out simple, and fleshing things out where they needed to be fleshed out, or trimming the fat where there was a bit much gristle. I used alot of different gear, and experimented with production techniques to create these tunes. Primarily, I used Ardour as a DAW for practically all of the live audio recording process. I also used a Tascam DP-02 to record some of the noisier sections. The drums were sequenced using Hydrogen, and processed through a number of guitar pedals, and DSP software called Rakarack. Hardware wise, most of the album was recorded using an Alesis multimix 4usb, a little later I started using a Motu 828, which completely changed my life, and the recording process.

It's worth saying that with the exception of the last 2 tunes, all of the software I used to record this album can be downloaded for free, legally. That includes the OS, which in this case is split between a customized version of Ubuntu Linux 10.04, and AV Linux 6.0.3. Even in the last 2 tunes, I continued to use Ardour (albeit on OSX Mavericks), and even ran a laptop running AV Linux, and rakarack for the sole purpose of live DSP. Another important aside, is that these tunes weren't recorded one after another in a short time span. There are years separating these tunes, the earliest was recorded in 2011, the most recent was in February of 2014. Sometimes it takes a long time to write music that goes together.

Compositionally, the forms I used here are pretty traditional. ABA primarily, with a few forays into pop-format, and the ever joyous monothematic jam... As always, thank you all for taking the time to listen, I hope you enjoy what I've done here.
